Volunteer Title:     Stevens Institute - PM Panel Discussion

Summary:   Introduce Project Management as a Career Option for Business School Undergrads

Volunteers representing a number of industries will participate in a one-time, one-hour panel (on-campus or virtually), introducing themselves and sharing how project management has shaped their careers.

Special focus will be given to how project management is unique in their different industries and how each volunteer decided to pursue PM as all or part of their career. Panel will be facilitated by a Stevens faculty or staff member.

for this role:  
Volunteers will help generate enthusiasm for and interest in PM as a profession and help to build PM capabilities in undergraduate students.

Volunteers will also have an opportunity to build relationships with the Stevens School of Business staff.
Responsibilities:   • Join one virtual preparatory meeting in October or early November.
• Participate virtually or in person on the Stevens campus, as decided in the preparatory meeting. On-campus participation will be preferable.
• On November 6, from 3-4:30PM deliver an introduction to your industry and your career in an informal talk of approximately 7-8 minutes. (formal presentation materials are discouraged). Participate in Q&A with staff and students for the remainder of the time.

• a very brief “interview” will be held to put together a panel with the most diverse work and life experience. The screening process will attempt to recruit from multiple industries and sectors (IT, construction, pharma, not-for-profit, corporate, small-company, consulting…..) as well as nontraditional paths to project management as a career.
Desired Skills:   Working knowledge of current PM practices in any industry, especially Predictive (Waterfall) and Scrum methodologies
